Jason gaining local popularity with IU Medical Center PR staff and FOX News. All four of these people went out of their way to bundle up in gloves and masks to interview Jason. I can’t imagine holding a camera in gloves and poor Angela is even somewhat claustrophobic which made the interview no small feat for her. These people are great!
Jason’s first day at Indiana University Medical Center! He is signing all of the consent forms needed to begin harvesting of his stem cells.
Jason proudly displays his new “main line” for chemo. If you notice the small bruise on his right arm you will see that the PICC line which Jason has called his “fashion statement” has finally been removed. The doctors at IU were shocked that the PICC line was still in Jason’s arm after 7 months. They had never seen one remain so long and were concerned that it would cause an infection. Happily it did not and as you can see from the smile on Jason’s face he is receiving excellent care.
Pictured here is one of the fabulous nurses at IU Medical Center. She is just one of the hard working, amazing people who we have come in contact with since arriving in Indiana. Notice the machine in the background. This is the machine that harvests Jason’s stem cells by removing whole blood them separating out the stem cells then warning and returning the blood to Jason’s body. This process took about 6 hours on each of three consecutive days.
